In this our seventh episode, we talk to local artist and musician Kenna Burima who has created the deeply personal composition ‘Rico’s Requiem’ for the Carillon in the Calgary Tower – the city’s largest instrument.

This is our first instalment of the Sky Sounds series – you can hear all three episodes in the series now in the +15 System in the Arts Commons building in downtown Calgary. Laurel Green is a dramaturg, director and producer. Artistic Associate at Alberta Theatre Projects (@atplive) in Calgary, she works in new play development, production dramaturgy, programming, and creating events for ATP’s Exchange audience series. Laurel is a board member for the Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas (@LMDAmericas) Canada chapter. She often works as a freelancer and she loves hosting secret performances in her backyard.

Anton de Groot is a freelance designer, creator, and theatre maker based in Calgary, and has recently completed an MFA in Design and Technical Theatre. His main interest is in scenography within a devised theatre process; how immediate integration of light, sound and projection can be used in the conceptualization and creation of new plays. As is a co-producer of The Deep Field Podcast, he brings a theatrical sensibility to the work, attempting to bring the wide audio scope of the stage to your earbuds while telling stories that are both intimate and surprising.

Col Cseke is a Calgary based playwright, performer, podcaster, and documentary theatre maker. He is also the Co-Artistic Director of Verb Theatre and the AD of Inside Out Theatre, Calgary’s mixed-ability theatre company. Primarily working in new work and non-fiction/participatory theatre Col’s work has premiered at the High Performance Rodeo, ATP’s playRites Festival, and the Calgary International Children’s Festival. His play Jim Forgetting is published by Scirocco Drama.
