We heard some great stories in the first half of our recording sessions at the High Performance Rodeo in Calgary where we are Listeners in Residence.  We thought we’d share little something, just to whet your appetites. Enjoy this short preview episode with an interview we did with animator Tyler Klein Longmire about watching old VHS tapes and drawing The Whaler for his animated short film Renderrabbits. As the High Performance Rodeo’s official Listeners in Residence, we will borrow your voices to build a chorus. A cacophony. A sea shanty.

Laurel Green is a dramaturg, director and producer. Artistic Associate at Alberta Theatre Projects (@atplive) in Calgary, she works in new play development, production dramaturgy, programming, and creating events for ATP’s Exchange audience series. Laurel is a board member for the Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas (@LMDAmericas) Canada chapter. She often works as a freelancer and she loves hosting secret performances in her backyard.

Anton de Groot is a freelance designer, creator, and theatre maker based in Calgary, and has recently completed an MFA in Design and Technical Theatre. His main interest is in scenography within a devised theatre process; how immediate integration of light, sound and projection can be used in the conceptualization and creation of new plays. As is a co-producer of The Deep Field Podcast, he brings a theatrical sensibility to the work, attempting to bring the wide audio scope of the stage to your earbuds while telling stories that are both intimate and surprising.

Tyler Klein Longmire

Tyler Klein Longmire is an animator, designer, and theatre-maker based in Calgary, AB. He works as the Production Coordinator at the Quickdraw Animation Society, an artist-run centre for independent animators in Calgary, and is a founding member of the experimental performance collective Humble Wonder Theatre. Tyler has recently been lucky enough to have had studio exhibitions / residencies with the Calgary Arts Commons (January – February 2015) and the Calgary Allied Arts Foundation (September 2014). As a theatre artist, as a freelancer or with Humble Wonder Theatre, he has worked with organizations such as the High Performance Rodeo, The Old Trout Puppet Workshop, Alberta Theatre Projects, Sled Island, Making Treaty 7, TELUS Spark Science Centre, Theatre Junction, Apparition Theatre, Sage Theatre, and Swallow-a-Bicycle Theatre, among others. He makes music videos, illustrations, dirty shadow puppet shows, experimental media art, and his own animated films whenever he can. He rides his bike everywhere and just go two kittens that are pretty cute?

Col Cseke
Col Cseke is a Calgary based playwright, performer, podcaster, and documentary theatre maker. He is also the Co-Artistic Director of Verb Theatre and the AD of Inside Out Theatre, Calgary’s mixed-ability theatre company. Primarily working in new work and non-fiction/participatory theatre Col’s work has premiered at the High Performance Rodeo, ATP’s playRites Festival, and the Calgary International Children’s Festival. His play Jim Forgetting is published by Scirocco Drama.
