Ivan Habel

Currently the Executive Director for the Belfry Theatre, Ivan’s career has spanned over forty years in the performing arts. He has filled technical, artistic and general management positions in a variety of organizations and has worked extensively across the country. In addition to six years running his own Production Consultant and Services Company, he has worked for many commercial and non-profit companies. His experience spans the performing arts, having worked in Opera, Music and for the bulk of his career in the Theatre. Companies that he has worked or provided services for include, Live Entertainment Co., Follows Latimer Productions, the O’Keefe Centre, Tafelmusik, Opera Atelier, the National Arts Centre, the Stratford Festival ,the Shaw Festival and Green Thumb Theatre. He has toured extensively across Canada, Europe and the USA and has had the pleasure of working in or touring to most provinces in Canada. In addition to his work experience Ivan has served on the Boards of the Professional Association of Canadian Theatres (PACT) as both a director and as Vice President, the International Performing Arts for Youth (IPAY), the Canadian Conference of the Arts and the Professional Arts Alliance of Greater Victoria (ProArt) as President and Past President. He has also served as a juror/adjudicator for the Canada Council for the Arts, the BC Arts Council, and the City of Vancouver as well as serving as a committee member for the Vancouver Foundation’s Renaissance Fund. He currently sits on the Board of the Professional Association of Canadian Theatres as the Director responsible for Labour Relations.
