festival of live digital Art (foldA) – June 19-22, 2018

SpiderWebShow is hiring 4 summer students for the first ever foldA (festival of live digital Art) happening June 19-22 2018 at the Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts. foldA is the only festival of its kind in Canada, exploring & presenting live performance integrated with digital technologies. Companies from across Canada will be commissioned to create programming that can be experienced by live audiences in Kingston and digitally by audiences across the country. foldA will also feature the The Start Up: a gathering for artists, curators and artistic directors about the intersection of online technology and live performance.

Associate Producer | May and June

1 position, dates subject to change

With the support of the Artistic Director and Producer, the student will support and help implement all elements of foldA at the Isabel Bader Centre in Kingston, ON from June 19-22.

Tasks include:

  • assisting in drawing up artist contracts
  • liaising with incoming companies
  • liaising with venue
  • working with accessibility coordinator during the festival
  • liaising with remote companies, developing and implementing ancillary activities for audiences and visiting artists
  • liaising with marketing team to develop marketing outreach strategy
  • documenting and reporting on all activities during foldA for reflection and growth in coming years
  • assisting the Artistic Director in completing final grant reports at the end of the festival.

Volunteer & Outreach Co-ordinator | May and June

With the support of the Artistic Director and Producer, the student will support and help implement the foldA (festival of live digital art) at the Isabel Bader Centre in Kingston, ON from June 18-21 by recruiting and managing volunteer staff.

Tasks include:

  • recruiting volunteers
  • organizing and implementing volunteer training
  • scheduling volunteer shifts
  • supervising volunteers
  • conducting festival outreach to local partners and businesses
  • maintaining a working list of interested participants for continued success of the festival.

Hospitality and Tourism Manager | May and June

1 position, dates subject to change

With the support of the Artistic Director and the senior artists at SpiderWebShow, the student will support and help implement the foldA (festival of live digital art) at the Isabel Bader Centre in Kingston, ON from June 18-21 by managing hospitality and transportation for visiting artists participating in foldA’s Industry Series, the StartUp.

Tasks include:

  • liaising with the Isabel Bader Centre to plan and implement hospitality offerings during foldA
  • working with Artistic Director to secure accommodation partners
  • liaising with incoming artists, organizing transportation for artists coming from Canada and internationally, and supporting artists during the festival.

Associate Digital Production Manager | May and June

1 position, dates subject to change

With the support of the Artistic Director and Producer, the student will support and help implement the foldA (festival of live digital art) at the Isabel Bader Centre in Kingston, ON from June 18-21. Because a portion of this festival programming occurs offsite and is digitally transmitted to the Isabel in Kingston, this student will be responsible for assisting in connecting with remote companies before, during, and after the festival.

Tasks include:

  • assisting in drawing up artist contracts for remote companies
  • liaising with remote companies
  • liaising with remote venue
  • liaise with marketing team to develop online content and marketing outreach strategy
  • documenting and reporting on all activities during foldA for reflection and growth in coming years
  • following up with remote companies to discuss challenges and opportunities.
